Some home owners foolishly think that they have done enough to protect their investment by choosing a neighborhood with a low crime rate, in an area with a low incidence of natural disasters, and by buying a home with relatively modern construction materials and thus a low probability of structural issues in the near future. Home ownership is the epitome of success, and the dream of just about every person, married or single, rich or poor, young or old. All that alarms will be for nil. Food for thought, indeed.
